About PushMyRankBot

PushMyRankBot is the crawler behind PushMyRank. If you found it in your server logs, this page explains what it is doing and how to control it.

What it is

PushMyRankBot reads the public pages of a website so PushMyRank can audit it for search engines, answer engines and AI assistants. It identifies itself in every request with this user agent:

PushMyRankBot/0.1 (+https://pushmyrank.com/bot)

Why it visited you

It only visits a website when someone asks it to:

  • a visitor or customer typed your address into a PushMyRank audit;
  • someone is verifying that they own your domain to list it in the PushMyRank directory (it then fetches your homepage and a verification file).

It does not roam the web on its own.

How it behaves

  • It reads robots.txt first and follows the rules for PushMyRankBot (and *). If robots.txt cannot be reached because of a server error, it does not crawl.
  • It fetches your sitemap, llms.txt and public pages, and checks a limited number of outgoing links.
  • It stays on your site, caps the number of pages (10 for a free audit without an account, more for plans), and pauses between requests. A Crawl-delay in your robots.txt is respected up to 5 seconds.
  • It never signs in, submits forms, or accepts cookies, and it does not run your page scripts.
  • It refuses private and internal network addresses.

It also reads your robots.txt rules for AI crawlers such as GPTBot and ClaudeBot, only to report whether your site allows them. It does not crawl as those bots.

How to block or slow it

Add this to your robots.txt to stop it completely:

User-agent: PushMyRankBot
Disallow: /

Or to keep it out of one section:

User-agent: PushMyRankBot
Disallow: /private/

Or to make it slower:

User-agent: PushMyRankBot
Crawl-delay: 5

Changes take effect the next time it visits.
